Rashin Kabodvand, Sigma Technology Cloud
She wants to build Swedenâs top cloud consultancy.
Building a company from scratch to fifty employees with specialist expertise in just a few years takes a lot of effort. It takes a deep understanding of the industry youâre operating in. It takes finding skilled and motivated employees and helping them thrive and develop. It takes someone like Rashin Kabodvand.
Rashin is the CEO of Sigma Technology Cloud, and the first impression she gives is that of a calm, attentive, and thoughtful person â though not someone with her head in the clouds. Well, actually, she is. But not in that fluffy, vague way the saying suggests. On the contrary, she has a solid grip on the business, and everything related to their cloud services. You can also sense a straightforward and direct personality, where truths are delivered even when theyâre uncomfortable, but always with warmth. It is this warmth and genuine curiosity that leave the most lasting impression of Rashin.
âIâm a family-oriented person, and my loved ones are the most important to me. We are close in my family, and I like that. And thatâs probably why I strive to establish the same close-knit spirit in our workplace,â says Rashin about her strong family ties.
When asked to describe herself, Rashin uses words like brave, diligent, outspoken, generous, and passionate. Sheâs also someone who enjoys being there for others, both at work and outside of it.
âIâm also a person who is very direct and transparent, which is well reflected in my leadership. Iâm happy to challenge things if necessary or if I disagree, and Iâm not afraid to fight battles in a way others wouldnât. And you might either love me or think Iâm just a bit of a handful,â Rashin laughs as she describes herself.
Rashin earned her bachelorâs degree in computer science from Stockholm University in 2013. During her studies, she had no specific career dreams other than a great passion for IT. Sheâs remained loyal to that passion and the industry ever since. She started as a systems developer and IT consultant at Cybercom Group. After a few years, she became a consulting manager and eventually ended her time there as a business area manager. In the autumn of 2020, Rashin received an offer to help start a new company in Stockholm, with the position of vice CEO on the table.
âIt was really exciting and flattering, and I thought it sounded very inspiring to be involved in starting something new and building it entirely from scratch. But vice CEO⊠That wasnât good enough. I really wanted complete freedom to build something I believe in, in my own way. So, I went âall inâ and said, itâs CEO or nothing,â Rashin explains about how she began her Sigma career.
And it was a success. The company was founded in January 2021 with zero employees, but now, three years later, they have fifty employees, and the business is thriving. Rashinâs goal is to double the number of employees within a few years â an ambition that doesnât seem far-fetched. Thereâs no doubt that many companies need help moving their operations to the cloud. But there are also more businesses that Rashin and her team can streamline by guiding them to the right cloud services. And thatâs one of Rashinâs goals for the company: to land more and larger companies as clients.
âAnother goal I have is to continue working on our great company culture. The level of satisfied co-workers is exceptionally high, and we have less than 10 percent staff turnover, which must be some kind of record in the IT consulting industry,â Rashin proudly shares about the positive atmosphere within the company.
Iâm a family-oriented person, and my loved ones are the most important to me.
â Rashin Kabodvand
As a leader, Rashin is personal, present, and inclusive. She is also an outstanding relationship builder. When she wants to implement something, she works upwards and outwards, avoiding anything that even remotely resembles top-down management. Sheâs keen on driving change, but when something works and is successful, sheâs happy to make a routine of it. After all, who wouldnât want success to become routine?
âYes, I like routines. But only if theyâre there to simplify and streamline. If they no longer work, I have no problem replacing them with more updated ones. One of my favourite routines is probably the one I have on Fridays when I come home from work and make my homemade pizza. A Friday without my pizza is not a proper Friday,â Rashin says, sharing her passion for good pizza and good routines.
When Rashin isnât working, she prefers to have as little planned as possible. Ideally, she likes to see her personal schedule empty, as thatâs when she relaxes best. During her free time, she spends a lot of time with family and friends, and thereâs often a lot of cooking involved. Because if thereâs one thing Rashin enjoys, itâs making sure that people around her are happy. Itâs important to her to be generous, sincere, and genuine in everything she does, which is why she believes in creating an inclusive and family-like atmosphere at her workplace.
âI want to be as close as possible to all our employees, to know them well, how many children they have, what their interests are, and what theyâre passionate about,â Rashin concludes, describing her ambition to continue being the brave and eager whirlwind, driving a company with the goal and ambition of being the best in Sweden.
