Cooking over open fires still causes more deaths than malaria, tuberculosis, and AIDS combined – and has a climate impact comparable to the entire aviation industry. Emerging Cooking Solutions, based in Malmö with subsidiaries in Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique, has been producing and distributing efficient, healthy cookstoves and sustainable wood pellet fuel since 2013.

The stoves are loaned to users in exchange for purchasing our fuel and are connected to a digital platform that tracks usage, allowing us to target households with the greatest need. Users benefit from cleaner cooking, halve their fuel costs, and save valuable time.

Growth benefiting households, communities, and the climate

Our growth happens organically: households that experience the benefits of our stoves share their experiences, spreading word of mouth from home to home. Demand therefore grows naturally but meeting it requires financing in the form of advance payments for carbon credits. These funds allow us to finance stoves, which we then loan to users in line with increasing pellet consumption.

This approach combines natural market growth with a scalable financial model. At the same time, each new user generates value far beyond economics: reduced deforestation and emissions, healthier homes, time savings in daily life, and local employment and supply chains. Our organic growth is therefore multidimensional, encompassing not only the market and society, but also the environment and people.

2025 in brief

During 2025, we strengthened pellet production to meet the growing customer base and further developed our IoT platform to deliver even better service and support. We also completed a major investment round with EDFI MC and PIDG, reinforcing our financial foundation.

Another significant milestone is our work on carbon credits under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement, with registration expected in Q4 2025. This represents a major step not only for our company but also for Zambia as a pioneer in international climate finance.

Organic growth, a strategy that strengthens culture and value.
