FIFH Malmö is one of Europe’s largest parasport clubs. We are committed to promoting an active sports life, normalisation, equal value for all, and inclusion. The club primarily targets three groups: people with intellectual, physical, and/or visual impairments, with senior citizens also being a key focus.
Today, FIFH has nearly 1,000 members spanning all age groups. At the heart of the organisation is our own parasport centre, the FIFH Parasport Center – a unique meeting place in many respects. Supporting this work are 15 employees, 13 of whom have a disability themselves, along with around 50 dedicated sports leaders.
FIFH continues to grow steadily, attracting more participants each year – especially children and young people. With around 3,000 instructor-led activity hours annually, we create extensive opportunities for everyone to participate and develop on their own terms.
Our beginner’s table tennis programme has experienced remarkable growth. While Sweden is currently enjoying “Truls fever”, we are also proud to have our own strong role models who make a significant impact.
Initiatives such as the parasport schools Synstark and Bumblebee, aimed at children and young people with visual impairments and multiple disabilities, have brought in new groups of participants. FIFH’s holiday camps continue to attract more children during school breaks, while our 65-plus groups are also expanding: the circuit training has started its sixth activity group and table tennis now has more than fifty active participants. Our outreach work in hospitals and schools further contributes to the growing number of active members.
The key to our success lies in our committed and knowledgeable sports leaders and role models, as well as greater visibility on social media. The club’s presence at official events such as Malmöfestivalen has strengthened our brand, while hosting major competitions such as Malmö Open and Malmö Lady Intercup in goalball has generated valuable media exposure.
Together, we continue to grow, include, and inspire – creating opportunities for more people to live an active sports life.
In 2025, FIFH welcomed many new participants as well as committed and skilled sports leaders. Membership grew from around 800 to nearly 1,000.
The Malmö Open parasport event has regained its momentum after the challenges of the pandemic and continues to grow year by year. In February, this international celebration of sport brought together 1,300 athletes from 21 nations. The autumn season included Special Olympics Day and the Pre Games, while FIFH also co-hosted the European Paragolf Championships at Bokskogen Golf Club and organised the Start Your Impossible Camp for new participants.
Work on the outdoor facility Parasport Park has intensified, with a financial solution now close at hand. This investment is without doubt a major game changer for FIFH as a club.
