BrainLit

A healthy light in the dark

BrainLit develops biocentric lighting technology and solutions that contribute to better health. Daylight is absolutely essential to our well-being. However, most people now spend the majority of their time in lighting environments that do not satisfy their need for daylight. Our lighting environments help maintain a natural circadian rhythm, which affects our sleep, cognition and memory ability, among other things.

Our technology is based on two Nobel Prize-winning discoveries: The influence of the circadian rhythm and white LED light. Biocentric lighting was developed by a research team in Lund, and the first patent for the technology was granted back in 2012. There is ample documentation that points to BrainLit’s positive impact on the health, well-being and productivity of people who work, study or spend time in environments illuminated using biocentric lighting.

In the Nordic region, we have delivered our lighting solutions to SOS Alarm, Swedbank, Airbus and Sony, among others. And together with our partner Arjo, we deliver customised solutions for healthcare services.

The year in brief

The market remains unstable due to the aftereffects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the ongoing energy crisis, and inflation. The component shortage has caused delays and made our certification work more difficult. These considerable challenges have led to lower sales than expected.

We reviewed our sales strategy this year and are now focusing on complementing our product portfolio with a simpler, entry-level product. This will give us the opportunity to offer package solutions in combination with sales through channel partners. Over the course of the year, we have also implemented cost savings and strengthened our management team with a new CFO.
