Jula Holding aims to achieve a Sustainable IT Environment with the help from Nexer and IBM

April 11 – Jula Holding, one of the largest “Do it yourself” chains in the Nordics, is taking a significant step towards its goal of being carbon neutral by 2030 through a partnership with tech companies Nexer and IBM. Jula Holding has successfully implemented Nexer Clean’s solution, Discovery, which provides a comprehensive overview of the company’s IT landscape. Optimizing the IT environment is crucial for ensuring a secure IT infrastructure, streamlining work processes, and reducing environmental impact.

Jula Holding aims to be carbon neutral by 2030. A key measure to achieve this goal is to ensure a sustainable IT environment. Together with Nexer, an IBM Business Partner and IBM, Jula Holding has carried out an IT inventory project that has enabled a complete overview of the company’s IT landscape, laying the groundwork for IT system optimization and cost savings. To further enhance their Discovery solution, Nexer Clean has integrated IBM Automation technology into the solution. With the improved and more efficient IT environment now established, Jula Holding will be able to reduce its energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.

“With Nexer Clean’s solution, we finally have an overview of our IT environment, which gives us control and the ability to make well-informed decisions about our IT strategy. We can now prioritize the right investments and optimize our IT, making it possible for us to meet future needs while contributing to a more sustainable future,” says Sebastian Forseland, Enterprise Architect at Jula.

Through Nexer’s solution, Jula Holding has gained a comprehensive view and review of its complex IT environment. The solution maps and analyzes all IT infrastructure, applications, and data flows, providing a detailed picture of the business’s digital DNA. During the inventory of Jula Holding’s IT environment, dependencies between different services were identified, where outdated technology is installed, which SaaS solutions are used in the organization, and where consolidation opportunities exist.

“We are pleased to see how our solution has given Jula Holding complete control over its IT environment. This is a perfect example of how we, together with our customers, create innovative solutions focused on efficiency and sustainability,” says Sofie Bergbom, CEO of Nexer Clean.

This five-week project, carried out in close cooperation between Jula Holding, Nexer, and IBM, demonstrates how agile collaboration and technological innovation can lead to concrete progress towards climate goals, while ensuring business continuity and competitiveness.

“We’re proud to support Jula Holding on their journey to achieve climate neutrality by 2030. With better overview of their IT landscape, Jula Holding will be able to optimize IT systems and drive cost savings, as they continue to create a lower carbon footprint business. The solution implemented by our valued business partner Nexer Clean, is built on IBM technology and demonstrates our joint ability to deliver innovative solutions in Sweden that strengthen client’s business models and contribute to their sustainable development,” says Peter Nilsson, Ecosystem leader at IBM Sweden.

The outcome of this collaboration will result in a significant acceleration in the adoption of user driven wearable audio devices.

The joint development targets consumer and professional audio products, hearing assistance devices and health monitoring wearables. By making devices “appable”, through downloadable plugins, developers can now create apps for any connected endpoint device.

Gary Spittle, CEO of Sonical states that “our platform unlocks a wide range of new opportunities beyond audio and Bluetooth which has created a growing community of plugin developers for CosmOS. With Sigma’s broad client base and years of product development experience we can bring Headphone 3.0 devices to the market much faster.”

Nexer wins Regatta IT support brief following multimillion pound implementation project

Following the success of a five-year, multi-million-pound digital transformation project to elevate business operations, The Regatta Group, a global group of outdoor and workwear clothing brands, has signed up for ongoing IT support through Nexer Enterprise Applications’ Care365 service.

The Regatta Group, which comprises Regatta, Dare2b, Craghoppers, and Regatta Professional, commissioned Nexer to overhaul its IT operations across 16 countries, supporting future readiness. The intensive project included Nexer (formerly K3/Sigma IT) implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 enterprise resource planning (ERP) and Business Intelligence systems, facilitating cloud-to-cloud migration and alignment with Microsoft’s integrated software ecosystem.

The final stage of the implementation project was completed in June 2023, with Nexer providing initial post-live support. Now, The Regatta Group has chosen to transition to the Care365 service and work with Nexer on an ongoing basis. Care365 takes a customised, people-first approach to delivering Microsoft Dynamics 365 post-live support, maintenance, and optimisation, helping to meet evolving operational needs and leverage new features to generate the best business benefits.

Colin Crow, managing director at Nexer Enterprise Applications UK, said:
“Implementing new Microsoft systems was a long-term, collaborative effort between Regatta colleagues and the Nexer team, and it’s been great to see this significant business transformation project through to completion.

“Sadly, we often see legacy systems limiting access to valuable business insights and inhibiting growth. Implementing the right new systems is a really important first step, but what a business does with this technology post-live can make all the difference to its effectiveness.

“Through our Care365 package, we don’t just resolve customer queries; we go beyond troubleshooting to make recommendations on the upgrades and new features which could help meet customers’ unique goals. We’re looking forward to continuing our partnership with The Regatta Group in this way, ensuring that the business continues to get the most out of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and reap the business benefits.”

Chris Bulmer, Consultant Director (AI and Automation) and former Group IT Director at The Regatta Group, also commented:
“The Microsoft implementation project was a major milestone for The Regatta Group. We’d just invested in our distribution centre and head office and then turned to levelling up our IT systems. As a group of businesses which operates internationally on both a wholesale and direct-to-consumer basis, this was a complex undertaking, and it was also the first time that we’d ever used external consultants. But we knew that Nexer had the expertise to execute the job, and working with Phil and the technical team in recent years has proven we made the right choice. It’s clear that the team genuinely care and is invested in our business – they know our operations inside out and clearly want the best for us.

“Implementing Microsoft solutions has enabled us to consolidate our international operations, access more detailed reporting, and work smarter. Going forward, we want to continue leveraging the insights of our new systems and get the most out of our investment, so it was an easy decision for us to continue our relationship with Nexer in this new format.

“We kicked off with Care365 in November 2023 – mid-golden quarter, which is a key trade peak for us and the wider retail world. The transition was seamless and having access to 24/7 call-out meant we could raise and resolve tickets quickly, limiting disruption during this all-important period.”

Sigma Technology and Lingon Certificates enter strategic partnership in Digital Product Passport Initiative

As part of the European green deal, manufacturers will soon be required by law to provide a unique Digital Product Passport (DPP) with each product sold on the European markets. The purpose is to lower the carbon footprint and bridge the gap in the circular economy by improving transparency and empowering buyers to make more informed and sustainable decisions.

While the DPP’s scope will eventually expand to many products, its rollout is gradual. Construction products and batteries are the first industries targeted by Digital Product Passport regulations. The EU plans to publish regulations specifically addressing textiles and consumer electronics. In the following year, furniture, electronic devices, and chemicals will be prioritized. Over time, the initiative aims to cover up to 30 industries.

Sigma Technology Solutions Group is working closely with the manufacturing industry to enable compliance with the new regulations, integrate new technologies, and maximize business outcomes.

Lingon Certificates is a software development company focusing on chain-of-custody and circularity solutions, based on blockchain technology. The company provides a versatile plug & play solution for the creation of and access to product passports, including technology for connecting physical goods. The platform also includes customer wallet apps for control of ownership and value-adding interactions between brands and their users.

The companies have now agreed to form a strategic partnership to combine best practices and enable companies of all sizes to get started quickly, easily, and efficiently with their DPP integration efforts.

“We are both thrilled and humbled to enter this journey with the competent, customer-centric, and hands-on team at Sigma Technology,” says Christian Listérus, CEO and co-founder of Lingon.

He continues:

“Our initial focus is to serve the furniture manufacturing and design industry in the Nordics and we’re proud to call Sigma our go-to-market partner of choice, due to their excellent domain expertise, skilled resources, and country-wide presence.”

Niklas Malmros, CEO of Solutions Group at Sigma Technology Group, says: “By leveraging the power of the Digital Product Passport, companies can enhance transparency and traceability throughout their supply chains, effectively addressing key challenges such as resource wastage, counterfeiting, and environmental impact. Our collaboration with Lingon Certificates marks a significant moment in our commitment to driving sustainable innovation. By combining our expertise, we empower manufacturers to seamlessly navigate regulatory complexities and enhance their environmental footprint.
